Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) has become a topic of interest, as it has been widely adopted as a fuselage material for the latest aircraft. Among all composite materials, CFRP is particularly lightweight and has high specific strength, and also features excellent corrosion resistance. Cosequently,it is expected to be utilized in a variety of fields.
In the transportation field, in particular,being lightweight leads to lower fuel consumption,this has a direct connection to lessening environmental load. In addition, this feature can be appreciated firsthand, as CFRP is already utilized as a raw material for sporting goods and other everyday products.
In Japan, which leads the world in the development and production of carbon fiber and plastic raw materials, research has accelerated in the search for even higher performance materials and processing methods.
